Warm-Up

1. Share with your group: What has made an impact on you or stuck with you through spending time in the Word and the devotional this past week?

2. Looking at the long-term: What decisions have you made over time that have produced a compounding result in areas such as relationships, habits, or finances?

Know It

Read Galatians 6:7–9 and Zechariah 4:10 together. Discuss what you notice in these texts and what questions come up for you.

1. What principle of sowing and reaping does Paul describe? What do you think of personally when reading this passage?

2. In your own words, what does it mean that “a man reaps what he sows”, and how is the principle of sowing and reaping both encouraging and challenging?

3. What does it mean to become “weary in doing good”? What does Paul promise to those who “do not give up”?

Own It

1. Consider the Zechariah passage. Are there any small daily choices you’re making now that you believe will shape your future? What does it mean to despise the small beginnings?

2. Sometimes, small negative habits can compound over time if we allow them to continue. We can also become distracted by things that are good, but simply shouldn’t be our priority. Share an example of a negative habit or distraction that has compounded in your life over time. What impact did it have?

3. Consider this statement:

“Whether you’re investing money, time, or love, the principle is the same: small, steady deposits add up to extraordinary returns if you give them enough time.” -Pastor Chris Hodges

What does this look like spiritually?

Next Steps

1. Focus on the positive progress – where have you seen gains over the past few weeks, even if it is not how you wanted it to look?

2. What changes would you like to make when you begin thinking about your spiritual growth over decades rather than days or weeks? What is one step you can take this week to start on that path?

Challenge

Spend time every day in the Word, in prayer and in your 1000 Day’s book. Journal or write down one thing God is showing you.
