Message: Into the Wild — Part 4 — Acts 13:1-12
Speaker: Scotty Priest
Date: March 22, 2026
Warm-Up
1. Do you prefer planning everything out, or being open to last-minute changes?
2. If you could travel anywhere on a mission trip right now, where would you go and why?
Know It
Read Acts 13. Write down what stands out to you and questions you have as you read through the text. As a group, start your time together discussing what you wrote down.
1. In verse 2 we see that the church was worshiping and fasting together. What does this tell you about the church of Antioch?
2. There are different voices of influence throughout this passage. How do people respond to these different voices and how does this encourage you to be bold?
3. How did the community respond to the Spirit’s direction?
4. Who were Sergius Paulus and Elymas, and how are they described?
Do you see yourself in any of the characters in this passage? Explain.
5. What does this passage teach about spiritual opposition to the gospel?
Own It
1. We see the strength of the church of Antioch. How are you challenged or inspired by the first 3 verses?
2. Baranbas and Saul left a thriving church to go out into the unknown – share a time that you stepped out in obedience when you didn’t know what the outcome would be.
What hurdles and blessings did you encounter and how did you grow through this time?
3. What might “modern-day Elymas” influences look like in our culture?
4. What does boldness in sharing the gospel look like in your current context?
Next Steps
1. The Holy Spirit spoke while the church was worshiping the Lord and fasting. What role should prayer and fasting play in our lives when facing important decisions?
Consider setting a time for prayer daily, reading scripture or connecting with your spiritual family.
2. What do you need clarity on this week?
Is there a step of obedience you’ve been delaying? What’s holding you back?
Challenge
Reread chapter 13 this week. Who is one person you would like to invite to church for Easter and/or share the gospel with? Begin praying for this person daily.
