Wednesday Night Discussion Questions

Series: The Book of James
Topic: James 2—”Fake or Genuine?”
Speaker: Nathan Sell, Middle School Pastor
Date: September 14, 2022

Overview:

In James 2, James talks about the importance of backing up our faith with our actions. SImply, James says in verse 17, “faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.” In a culture that is fueled by fakeness, what does it look like to have a real, genuine faith in Christ? In James 2, we realize that while faith starts with our beliefs, it must be paired with actions in order to be effective and genuine. It is through our actions we can see the true status of our faith.

Discussion Questions:

  1. Where do you see examples of “fakeness” in the world today? (Social media, etc.)
  2. How does what we believe about God determine how we respond to God?
  3. Why do you think it is important to back up our faith with actions? Why do our actions speak louder than our words?
  4. What do you think it looks like to have a life that is transformed by Christ?
