Matthew 11:28-30 — “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

1. So many of us carry a busy schedule and heavy burdens, living right up to the MAX line of our capacity. God wants us to lean into him when we are weary and burdened, and he will give us rest. When we don’t leave margin in our days and throughout our lives we begin to see stress levels go up, our focus narrows, and relationships suffer. How would you describe the current pace of your life, and are you feeling any of these ‘side effects’?

2. What is driving you to live at your limits? Fear, falling behind and not making my mark are just three common things discussed that lead to tension and stress.

Leviticus 19:9 — When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Do not go over your vineyard a second time or pick up the grapes that have fallen. Leave them for the poor and the foreigner. I am the Lord your God.

Deuteronomy 24:19 — When you are harvesting in your field and you overlook a sheaf, do not go back to get it. Leave it for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.

3. Where can you add some breathing room into your life? /It might be helpful to keep in mind that you do not have to change everything today, but to begin by making one change for today or this season.
