Psalm 39:4-5

Show me, Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is. You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Everyone is but a breath, even those who seem secure.

1. Are you a planner or do you tend to go with what life brings you? How do you handle disappointment in regards to both of these approaches?

Ecclesiastes 2:1

I said to myself, “Come now, I will test you with pleasure to find out what is good.” But that also proved to be meaningless.

Ecclesiastes 2:10-11

10 I denied myself nothing my eyes desired;I refused my heart no pleasure. My heart took delight in all my labor, and this was the reward for all my toil. 11 Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.

2. Am I living my life on purpose? This is a question that we often ask ourselves and can really stir the soul. What are you doing currently that gives you life and helps you keep focus on God? What is a distraction for you?

3. God calls us to love Him and love others and this is the perspective God wants us to have. No matter what our calling, giftings, tallents, or desires are, our purpose is this. In putting God and others first, who and what are you responsible for? How does this impact your life and can you see how it is a part of your purpose in Christ?
