Warm-Up

1. Did you grow up dreaming of being a parent or was that never on your radar?

2. If you have kids, share your funniest “parenting fail” – what is a mistake you made with your children that you can laugh about now?

Know It

Read Psalm 127. What stands out to you?

1. Why is the work we do in vain unless the Lord is in it?

What does it practically look like to build something WITH the Lord?

2. What does this Psalm show us about the relationship between rest and productivity (v.3)?

What does this passage teach us about human effort and God’s divine hand?

3. Why do you think Scripture is so clear about children being a blessing?

Do you see this truth reflected in today’s culture or in lives around you?

Own It

1. Have you ever tried to “build” or “watch” by yourself without the Lord’s help? How did that go?

2. Are you currently modeling a life of following Jesus? What does that look like?

Are there any adjustments you need to make so that you can model your faith more clearly?

3. If you have children, discuss what season you are currently in with them: the foundation years, the training years, the coaching years, or the friendship years.

What has been hard about this specific season? What has been joyful and fun?

Next Steps

1. How is the Lord calling you to influence the next generation?

What can you practically do this week to pour into someone who is in a season behind you?

2. Who do you need to be praying over this week?

3. Is there anyone you know that you feel called to build a relationship with?

How can you reach out to them this week?

4. If you have children, how can you make the “minutes matter”?

What can you do to stay present and connect with your children despite the busyness of life?

Challenge

Reread Psalm 127 this week. Ask the Lord where you are trying to “build” and “watch” without Him. How can you make more room for Him and rely on Him in everything you do?
