Our God is personal and HOLY. He knows what it is to be human and meets us where we are at. He is also so majestic, exalted and full of wonder that we can hardly fathom his greatness. He reveals His holiness throughout scripture through his nature and character. This week’s sermon we are digging into some of these attributes and how knowing God for who he is can change us.

John 17:3Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

Job 42:5I had only heard about you before, but now I have seen you with my own eyes.

Isaiah 6:1-61 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. 3 And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” 4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. 5 “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar.

1.) Have you ever been starstruck? How did you respond?

2.) Describe a time in your life when you were overwhelmed by the greatness and wonder of God? Maybe you did not attribute it to God at the time, but now you know it was definitely the Lord!

3.) What difference does it make in your life now knowing God is…
OMNIPOTENT – almighty, unlimited, out of nothing, creative power
OMNISCIENT – means God knows everything
OMNIPRESENT – simply means that God is everywhere

Remember how Isaiah responded to God after seeing Him in all of his glory? He was STUNNED and overwhelmed because of God’s Holiness. He was SEARED and changed, and he was SENT.

4.) How can you respond the same way, given your experiences and relationships with God?

PRAYER: Here I am Lord, send me. In your glory and goodness, what are you asking me to do?
