Warm-Up

1. How did your family celebrate Easter growing up? Was there more focus on Jesus or on the Easter bunny?

2. When have you experienced radical forgiveness or been able to extend radical forgiveness to someone else?

Know It

Read Luke 24. What stands out to you?

1. Why do you think it took so long for the women to remember Jesus’ words prophesying His own death (v. 8)?

Why did the disciples not believe the women immediately when they reported back?

2. Why do you think Jesus waited to reveal Himself to the two disciples walking to Emmaus until after He had explained everything to them?

3. What is significant about Jesus eating a piece of fish in v.42-43? Why do you think Luke included this detail?

4. Jesus repeatedly brings up that all the Law and the Prophets (aka the Old Testament) points to Him. How have you seen that to be true? Why do you think that is so important?

Does this concept change your understanding of Scripture?

Own It

1. Put yourself in the shoes of the women coming to the tomb. What emotions and thoughts would have come up for you? What would you have expected walking up to Jesus’ tomb?

2. Is there anything about Christian faith or the resurrection story that you struggle to believe?

Questions and wondering are not shameful but healthy! Are there any questions that come up as you read through Luke 24?

3. CS Lewis once said, “Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important.” Do you see this reflected in your own life? Are you tempted to approach faith as only “moderately important”?

Next Steps

1. What weight are you still carrying around with you? Is there anything from your past that you struggle to let go?

Do you truly believe that you are fully loved and forgiven? What, if anything, is holding you back from completely accepting this?

2. If the resurrection story is true, what does that mean for your life?

What next step do you need to fully embrace the life the Lord has for you?

Challenge

Reread Luke 24 this week. Take some time thanking and praising Jesus for the great gift He has given YOU. Consider who you can share the Gospel with this week.
