Read Acts 6. What stands out to you?

1. How do the apostles respond to the complaints of the congregation?

Why did they choose to delegate the task rather than taking it on themselves?

2. What characteristics did the apostles look for in the leaders they appointed?

What characteristics do we specifically see in Stephen?

3. Why did those opposing Stephen have to resort to the testimonies of false witnesses?

Own It

1. When have you noticed someone being overlooked? What, if anything, did you do about it?

How have you seen the church take care of those who are overlooked?

2. Have you ever been pulled off mission by urgency?

Has anything in your life become more important than what God has called you to do?

3. Discipleship is key in this passage. Have you ever been discipled by someone or devoted yourself to pouring into someone else’s life? What impact did that have on your life?
