Message: The Next Thing – Part 4
Speaker: Scotty Priest
Date: August 25, 2024

2 Kings 7:9
Then they said to each other, “What we’re doing is not right. This is a day of good news and we are keeping it to ourselves.”

1. During the message, Scotty shared the history and story of the lepers from 2 Kings. In what ways can you relate to the lepers and their actions?

2. Read through the verses below. What perspective does God want us to have when considering what is next?

Philippians 2:3-4
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking only to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Luke 14:21-23
‘Go quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and invite the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame.’ After the servant had done this, he reported, ‘There is still room for more.’ So his master said, ‘Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full.

1 Peter 4:10
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

2 Corinthians 9:6-8
“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

3. Oftentimes, the next thing is about other people because we are celebrating what God has done in our lives. We saw this with the lepers when they realized their next thing was to share the good news of what they had found. With your group and throughout this week, ask God about the three ideas we discussed in the sermon; who can I invite, how can I serve and what does generosity mean for me?
