Get To Know You (10 Minutes)
  1. Where is your favorite place to vacation and why?
  2. Name someone who has made a big impact in your life and why.
Observation & Discussion (30 Minutes)
  1. What resources or people do you listen to when making a decision?
  2. Have you ever found it difficult to “hear from God?” If so, what makes it tough?

The primary way God speaks to us is through Scripture.

Read 2 Timothy 3:16 – All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

3. Share a time when God spoke to you through Scripture.

4. What stands out to you from 2 Timothy 3:16?

God Speaks through Prayer

5. What is the difference between “hearing” and “listening” ?

Psalm 139: 23-24 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

This Psalm is a reflection of what our posture or mindset should be when we pray.

6. What is the writer of this Psalm teaching us about prayer?

James 1:5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you.

God loves you so much that he wants you to come to Him in prayer.

7. While it’s tempting to go elsewhere, is there an area of your life where you can go to God first?

Next Step (10 Minutes)

1 Samuel 3:9 – Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.

  1. Have you ever started reading through the bible or praying and then got distracted?
  2. Write down a PLACE, a TIME, and a PLAN to hear from God through Scripture and prayer.
Prayer Requests (5 Minutes)

You can use this verse to pray with your group

Luke 11:2-4 – Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.
