Warm-Up

1. Have you ever taken a trip that took a crazy turn that you weren’t expecting?

2. Has the Lord ever led you into very surprising circumstances that are now a big part of your testimony?

Know It

Read Acts 9. What stands out to you?

1. Why do you think the Lord struck Saul with blindness rather than just appearing to him?

2. Why was Ananias so hesitant to seek out Saul?

How would you have felt if you were in his shoes and were being prompted to seek out someone you thought wanted to kill you?

3. What is Saul’s response after he receives his sight back?

What does that tell us about his commitment to Jesus’ cause?

4. What helped the other disciples accept Saul as one of their own?

What do you think led Barnabas to speak up for Saul?

5. Looking at Acts 9:32-43, what is significant about these healings and why do you think they were included in Scripture?

Own It

1. How in your own life have you seen that being spiritual and religious isn’t the same as living a surrendered life to Jesus?

In what ways can you relate to Saul, both pre- and post-conversion?

2. Do you find yourself identifying more with Saul or Ananias in this story?

If you’re more of a Saul, what is Jesus calling you to leave behind so that you can step into true freedom and be all in for Him? If you relate more to Ananias, who is the Lord sending you to that needs His grace and healing?

Next Steps

1. What disruptions has the Lord allowed in your life recently? How are they drawing your attention to Him?

Are there any disruptions that you need to act on instead of push through or brush off?

2. How are you leaning on your own success and resume instead of the grace and love of Jesus?

What in your life needs to change in order to allow Jesus to be your Savior rather than trying to save yourself?

Challenge

This week, take some time contemplating the question of “Who are You, Lord?” Who do you say that Jesus is? Does it align with Scripture or has it been muddled by social and personal beliefs? Who has Jesus revealed Himself to be to you?
