Discussion Questions
Matthew 5:6-7 — Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
- God’s desire is for us to hunger and thirst for righteousness, to be in right standing with Him. Often we say, “no thanks, I’m not hungry…” and there are a variety of reasons for this. What are some reasons that keep you from filling up on God?
- Verse 7 states, Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. This comes on the heels of acknowledging our need to be filled with Christ. What is the correlation between these two “blessings”?
- We have been freely given the gift of salvation because of Jesus. The grace and mercy we have received came at a price, but it is not something we have to earn. Is there a time in your life when you have been shown mercy? Do you have the opportunity to freely show mercy to someone?
