Genesis 12:1-4
1 The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.” 2 I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you. 4 So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran.
1. Although we all know change is inevitable, that does not make it easy. We often find ourselves in new territory with a lot of questions and a lost sense of direction. What questions did you have and what was your initial response the last time you were in uncharted territory?
Hebrews 11:8
It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going.
2. Abraham did move forward into the unknown, but I am sure it was not easy. We have all been in similar situations, I know I have. When you think back on some of these times, what are some things that you have had to leave behind, what have you given away and what have you taken with you? Think about this through the lens of life lessons, hard decisions, blessings, and relationships.
Isaiah 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
3. God is with us! Is there something that is keeping you from moving forward and what is God asking you to trust Him with? If you have unanswered questions or concerns, share these with your group and pray for one another as you step into uncharted territory or wait on the Lord.
