Series: The Way
Topic: Part 6 – Scripture
Speaker: Justin Terry

Matthew 4:19-20
“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him.

As we focus on Scripture this week, I am reminded what a great blessing it is that we can freely read and own a Bible! God’s Word is for and to all people so we can know His love, grace and truth for our lives. We see God’s heart for his people, his redemption story and his plan for how to live through his written Word.

Matthew 5:17-18 (NLT)
17 “Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose. 18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God’s law will disappear until its purpose is achieved.

Galatians 3:24
So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith.

1. These verses remind us that Jesus came with a purpose and God’s Word is our guide for living. Share a biblical principle and or verse that has shaped how you live, decisions you have made or led to healing in your life?

2. What does scripture reveal? (Answer: Heart of God, God’s plan for redemption and how to live). Which of these three points do you want to learn more about and grow in and why?

Matthew 7:24-27
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

3. Building habits in our lives happens one brick at a time. Share with your group an action step you would like to take this week to build a habit of reading, memorizing and following.

With your groups or on your own this week, please pray for people around the world who do not have a Bible and have not yet heard the good news of Jesus.

Check out our scripture resources and if you or someone you know needs a Bible please let us know, we are happy to help!
