Matthew 23:27-28
27 Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. 28 In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.
Matthew 23:3
So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.
1. Share a time you had expectations of how something or someone should be and were disappointed? How did you respond?
2. Jesus loves the church, calling the church his bride and is grieved when people are hurt. If this has been your story, I pray you can heal and find community here. Discuss God’s intent and heart for the Church.
3. We are all part of one body (the Church) as Paul talks about in 1 Corinthians 12:12-31 and we each have an important role. What are some ways you can contribute to a healthy church culture?
Acts 9:26
When Saul arrived in Jerusalem, he tried to meet with the believers, but they were all afraid of him. They did not believe he had truly become a believer!
4. Is there hurt in your life that is keeping you on the sideline? If so, what is one thing you can do to begin healing to move you forward? If you know someone who is hurting, is there something you can do to come alongside to encourage them?
