3 Ways To Get Involved
Give Toys – Please purchase toys of $25 or more in value and bring them to Journey. We will have collection boxes available until Sunday, December 3rd. Gifts can be bought for girls and boys ages birth to 18.
Give Time – If you would like to serve the day of the Store at one of the locations, we would love to have you volunteer. We have 2-time shifts to choose from (9 am to 11:30 am and 11:30 am to 2 pm). We need people to help with childcare, toy stocking, gift wrapping, and more! If you are interested, choose a school below.
Give Money – If you prefer to trust us with purchasing any leftover gifts or to help with other needs to pull off the Store, we would welcome any financial donations. You can click HERE to give online, or you can bring checks or cash to the Next Steps table on a Sunday morning. Checks can be written out to Journey Church and write “Christmas Store” on the memo line.
Why We Do The Christmas Store
We believe that every family should have a great Christmas, and we want to empower families who might need a little extra help to make this a reality. At both Bishop and South Ridge Elementary, there are many kids who are on free or reduced lunch. Because of this, parents and guardians might have a tough time simply providing great gifts for kids. The Store helps these parents and guardians by offering gifts of $25 or more at a $5 purchasing price. We don’t give the gifts as handouts but believe that making them pay a reduced rate still gives the parents/guardians the dignity they desire.
How The Store Works
Parents and guardians arrive at the Store (the elementary school they’re connected to) during their assigned time. They check in and drop any kids off at childcare (if they have brought their kids). The shoppers then proceed to check in and get paired with a Shopper Helper Volunteer. They enter the Store and start shopping for the kids they signed up for. Each shopper can purchase up to 2 gifts per child for $5 each. Once the shopper chooses their gifts, they proceed to the cashiers and check out. After they check out, the shoppers are then escorted to a gift wrap room where they can either wrap the gifts themselves or have volunteers do it instead. Once the gifts are wrapped, the shoppers can leave or pick up any kids they checked in for childcare.
